From scholarships to research: How NIT Warangal reshaped alumni relations
At a time when the institute and its alumni seemed quite far apart, a group of people started reaching out to past students with one goal in mind - to gather funds on behalf of some financially challenged students at NIT Warangal. This small group saw that a powerful resource known as the alumni of NIT Warangal was never tapped into to collaborate with. Simple conversations led to tangible results. From that humble beginning started the growing story of The Lakshya Foundation.
The startup ecosystem is pretty awesome. Some amazing people have helped us along the way selflessly and we want to thank them for it. To name a few, Raghuram Trikutam (Freecharge), Anand Rajagopalan(Lakshya), Vijay Sagar Vinnakota (Ex-Althea), Mayank Bidawatka (Ex-Redbus) and many more. We’re very inspired by them and we want to follow suit. The primary reason for this post is to make this extremely clear and open.
We rolled out a new feature called ‘Alumni Job Portal’ this week. This job portal is quite different from those you have come across till date.
The potential of students while they are still in college is largely untapped. Recently, we partnered with The Lakshya Foundation for the NIT Warangal hackathon. We gave students a very interesting problem to solve - face detection - and we are thrilled with their performance.
I do not want to sound rhetorical by mentioning the obvious ones like the four killer freemium services of Google (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Analytics, Google Calendar).
Django models perform database query operations through managers. At least one Manager exists for every model in a Django application. By default it is accessed using “.objects” In order to explain the problem and the solution, I will use a simple example. We have Book and Author as two of the models among others. (Yes books and authors as examples to teach programming never gets old :))
Srinivasan Seshadri (Sesh) is a very experienced technologist and a successful serial entrepreneur.
I was fortunate to work directly under Sesh in one of his start-ups. Today, he joins AlmaBase as its Board Member. Sesh’s guidance will be immensely valuable
Excited and humbled!
